24 Dec 2007

First How NOT to remove a passenger side Axle. Axle strapped to my truck. Dads truck is backing into the srt to keep it from moving.

here you see the srt strapped to the house so when i pull on the axle with MY TRUCK the srt won't come off the jack stands.

Anyway we ended up getting the axle and half shaft out in one piece by unbolting two carrier bearing bracket bolts....... guess thats lesson learned. Broke a boot on the passenger side axle and the oil cooler, But its out.

Got motor, tranny and wiring harness out and as you can see not much left in the engine bay. Just the ABS system and some of the A/C stuff. I'm hoping to unbolt the ENTIRE abs system in one piece and slide it over and bolt it on to the sxt. we'll see how that works.

Here you can see the motor/tranny combo with the K-Member sitting next to it. Also you can see my Bad as corvette in the back ground. I'm going to be using it as my daily driver while the sxt is down during the swap.

I say sell off all the parts you got now and just put everything into the C5R. That's what I would do anyway.

Seeing as that trash bag is bigger than the Corvette, I would assume that you've had a hard time using it as a daily.

Driver side axle went next....

battery box needs to come out

K-Member with steering rack comes down once you disconnect the Power steering lines and 4 bolts.

next remove the two year old niece before you make this big man angry

aren't i sexy!

exhaust came out before i could pull the motor.

a wide view of the engine bay before i pulled the motor. a lot of little connectors here and there need to be disconnected before you pull it. i just followed my wiring harness around and disconnected them all.

Motor Out.

And a shot of my two babies as i do a ton of work to breath old life into a new shell... well at least a un-totaled shell.

In the end i ended up doing 99.9% of the work myself and it wasn't so bad. 30 December i'll be removing the dash and hopefully get started on swapping over the master cylinder brake booster and hopefully full abs... we will see what happens.
